AFFILIATED WITH RESILIENT COMMUNITIES WORLDWIDE
Edenwald University stands with tough communities and challenging environments everywhere—from Jacksonville, Florida to Jasper, Wyoming, from the Bronx to communities across the world. Affiliation comes from lived experience and street wisdom, not a particular ZIP code.
Tell the true story of an everyday struggle—hunger, stretching a meal, housing pressure, family responsibility, a difficult choice, a breakthrough or a lesson from your own life.
Share what you observed, what it revealed and what others can learn from the situation.
Pass along a meaningful account responsibly, clearly identifying it as something you heard rather than witnessed.
Protect private information, obtain permission before identifying others, distinguish facts from rumors, and never submit threats, harassment, graphic exploitation or instructions for wrongdoing.
Rooted in Edenwald • Open to the entire world
Practical wisdom earned through experience—knowing how to read the room, protect your interests and move with purpose.
Resourcefulness, good judgment and creative thinking that turn pressure into opportunity without losing your integrity.
From the Bronx to every corner of the world, resilience is respected, culture is celebrated and every hard-earned story has value.
THE REAL-LIFE CURRICULUM
No lectures from an ivory tower—just useful knowledge, honest conversations and skills for the road ahead.
Making a mayonnaise sandwich or a tin of sardines stretch into a meal, navigating shortages, reading the room and finding a way forward without losing your dignity.
Turning ideas into income, building a trustworthy brand and creating sustainable opportunity.
Storytelling, production, promotion and the creative skills that help voices travel farther.
Honoring Caribbean, African-American and global community experiences while building for the next generation.

STRUGGLE MEALS • DIGNITY ON A BUDGET
A sample U.S. grocery basket for one person and several basic meals. Prices vary by store, location and date, so substitute sale items and use what is already in the cupboard.
Estimated total$19.25
Cook beans until tender. Add rice and frozen vegetables. Season with anything available. Make a large batch and portion it.
Use cold leftover rice, one egg and a handful of vegetables. Fry together in a lightly oiled pan.
Serve half a can over rice and vegetables, or mash sardines onto toast. Add pepper, vinegar or hot sauce if available.
Cook oats with water. Add a spoon of peanut butter for calories, flavor and staying power.
When bread and mayonnaise were what the cupboard held, that meal helped someone get through the day. Add an egg, sardines or vegetables when available.
A $1.25 package is not automatically cheapest. Compare ounces, servings and the supermarket price before buying.
Plan three meals that reuse the same staples. Buy food first; avoid snacks and impulse items until the meal plan is covered.
Dollar General offers digital coupons and cash-back offers through myDG. Clip only deals for items already on your list.
Dollar Tree now carries multiple price points, including items above $1.25. Read shelf labels before placing an item in the basket.
Rice, beans, oats, eggs, bread, peanut butter, canned fish and frozen vegetables can cross several meals.
Keep a running total on your phone, include sales tax where applicable and leave a small buffer.
A $20 basket is an emergency stretch—not a complete long-term nutrition plan.
OFFICIAL HELP IN YOUR STATE
Select a state or U.S. territory to open its official USDA SNAP information and official HUD housing resources. Edenwald University does not process applications or determine eligibility.
SNAP applications are handled by state or local SNAP offices. HUD state pages connect visitors with affordable housing, rental assistance, housing counselors, homelessness resources and local Public Housing Authorities. Housing Counseling: 800-569-4287.
Call or text 988, or use the 988 Lifeline chat, for free and confidential emotional support in the United States.
Contact 988 Lifeline →HUD confirms that foreclosure, eviction and homeless counseling are always free. Other services may be free or offered on a sliding scale.
Find a HUD counselor →SAMHSA connects people with community mental-health and substance-use programs, including options for people without insurance.
Find affordable support →Sometimes the lesson began with an empty cupboard. Survival became the skill. Experience became the credential. Wisdom is what we share.
